Booker T. Washington was a self-made man and a prominent African American leader who rose from slavery to become the founder of Tuskegee Institute and a champion of African American education and economic self-sufficiency. Despite being born into slavery and never learning to read or write until after the Civil War, he used his determination and drive to inspire change and empower his community. His legacy remains a source of inspiration for all who strive to overcome adversity and achieve their goals.
